Answer: Over the last few years DSL service prices have decreased. During the same period data transfer rates (speed) have increased. Unfortunately SBC/AT&T/Yahoo has not done a very good job in communicating these changes – or adjusting customer’s rates.
Are You Overpaying for DSL?
We have recently discovered a few of our customers that have been overpaying for their current level of DSL service. If you have had a DSL connection with AT&T/SBC/Pac Bell/Yahoo for more than a couple years it would be worthwhile to check your bill and see what you are paying compared to their current monthly rates and DSL speeds. It is not uncommon to find people who have had a DSL connection for four or five years still paying the old rate for a significantly slower connection than what is available today.
A quick call to your DSL provider can get the current information on your monthly DSL rate and your connection speed. And if you find they have been overcharging you for some time, a discussion about a credit on your account might be in order. Threatening to switch to Comcast also seems to get their attention.
